Chelsea’s John Terry could go all-British and all-electric with £150,000 Lightning GT
Having won the Premier League three times, the FA Cup on five occasions, the Football League Cup twice and the Champions League and Europa League, John Terry has arguably been England’s - and Chelsea's - best centre back for the last few years.
And just like any footballer, he loves his cars. With a weekly income of £150,000, the 32-year-old skipper is not afraid of spending his millions and was recently seen on a luxury yacht – the Sunseeker Portofino 40, which would cost the footballer a hefty £430,000.
At the top of the range, prices of yachts reach £3m, but it would take Terry a staggering five months to earn this amount – unless he moves to Monaco with the lure of a £7.8m tax-free salary.
So while Terry considers purchasing a boat, it seems likely he’ll also be looking at his options on the road too. The owner of a Ferrari F430 Spider, the six-foot tall Barking-born Brit also drives a Range Rover Sport, a BMW X5, a Porsche 911 Turbo and a Bentley Continental.
All of those are fairly expensive but high-performance items on the road, so it seems Terry is after performance above price.
And that is why John Terry could be aiming to secure himself a high-performance electric car to show off his green credentials. The Lightning GT will be perfect.
With just 20 models of the Lighting GT being produced in 2013-14, the green sports cars are handcrafted and customised for customers. So if Terry dreams of having his name engraved into the dashboard in Swarovski crystals or even having a distinctive body colour, almost anything is possible with this superb piece of British engineering.
With in excess of 90 per cent of the parts for this car originating from British sources, it is a testimony to what can be achieved by ambitious engineers.
Terry always likes to sing the national anthem loudly to show off his supreme vocal chords – a very proud Brit it seems. So I think he’d like this car. It’s British, genuinely, and fully electric, and fast, and stylish, green and powerful, and rare. It is perfect for showing off. And makes an excellent investment – a potential classic in the future. What more could a footballer want from a supercar?
Topping 130mph with a range of up to 150 miles, and acceleration from zero to 60mph in under five seconds, Terry could find a new friend in the Lightning GT.
