With news of the world’s most expensive motorhome going on sale in Dubai, it puts in to reality how out of touch the Middle Eastern city is with the rest of Europe.
While very stylish and beautiful on the inside, the front looks as if it has been punched by a disapproving orangutan, while the rear is less aerodynamic than a Nissan Cube.
The ‘eleMMent Palazzo’ is ugly. At a time when manufacturers, even many motorhome manufacturers, are conscious of peoples’ squeezed incomes, making vehicles more fuel efficient and cost-effective than ever before, the £2m price tag on this colossal American-style piece of metal is quite extraordinary.
A rooftop terrace, a fireplace, an on-board bar, sofas everywhere and a 40-inch television are just some of the luxuries in this moving mansion.
But why would anyone in the world want an on-board bar? The gullable oil-rich Arab Sheikhs love it though.
It has been described as a private jet on wheels but jets are not for the roads. Let’s look at the safety. I’m not sure the field of vision would allow a good view of cyclists or pedestrians around the world’s most expensive motorhome.
The master bedroom looks wonderfully romantic and I like the idea of having a barbecue grill station. But that’s not something I couldn’t do for ten quid with a box of matches, some charcoal and a grill.
While it will most certainly cater to businessmen and wealthy families, this is an extravagant piece of engineering which should be well credited for its detail and complexity, but if one ever touches the roads of Britain, I imagine many motorists will simply label it an eyesore.
