Breakthrough schemes using innovation to boost safety and health will be a key feature at this year's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) Scotland Congress.
Delegates will be inspired by new methods and projects that have emerged from independent thinking and strong partnerships between businesses, the third sector and local authorities, and encouraged to network with some of Scotland's best health and safety innovators.
Keynote speeches will cover efforts to improve road safety by Glasgow City Council and mental health at work, along with next year's 20th Commonwealth Games and how Glasgow 2014 Ltd is managing health, safety and welfare at such a large, international project.
Karen McDonnell, head of RoSPA Scotland, said: "Innovative health and safety initiatives that have been developed to fit in with Scotland''s culture are a key theme of this year''s congress and should create a buzz about what is possible.
"We are particularly pleased to include health and safety insights from the forthcoming Commonwealth Games on the programme, and also a focus on mental health at work as this issue is often swept under the carpet, despite one in four people experiencing this problem at some point in their lives.
"This event is about connecting our delegates with Scotland's vibrant health and safety community. We are seeking to create new partnerships through energising people working within health and safety, by providing an insight into what is new and what can be achieved if we work together towards common goals."
Topics to be featured at the event, supported by educational partner the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives, include: Glasgow City's Council's Drive Safe project to improve occupational road safety; Scotland's exclusive Healthy Working Lives scheme for small firms; and the Scottish Association for Mental Health explaining how workplace conditions can contribute to stress and other mental health conditions.
RoSPA is a charity that has been at the heart of accident prevention for nearly 100 years and a driving force behind improving safety and occupational health in organisations worldwide.
