Honda Civic Tourer revealed ahead of unveiling at Frankfurt Motor Show

HONDA has revealed what the new British-built Civic Tourer will look like ahead of its official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month: sleek and sporty.
Featuring Honda’s innovative Magic Seat system, the new Civic Tourer also boasts a staggering 624 litres of boot space up to the window line, but with the rear seats folded down, this increases to 1,668 litres when it is filled up to the roof.
Developed and designed in Europe, it will be for sale in the UK early next year. Available with a choice of two engines, the Civic Tourer is a symbol of Honda’s ability to develop high-end eco-friendly engines for the real world. The new 1.6 i-DTEC engine derives from the Earth Dreams Technology series while there is also an option for a marginally larger 1.8 i-VTEC engine in automatic or manual transmission.
Britain’s motorists who warm to the new Honda will soon be jumping with joy as the introduction of a new Adaptive Damper System will allegedly help to enhance stability and comfort under varying load and driving conditions – vital on the UK’s bumpy and poorly maintained roads.
According to Adrian Killham, Honda’s Large Project Leader for the Civic Tourer, the car benefits from ‘sporty, sleek and dynamic proportions’. “To achieve true utility on a compact car, you have to consider how to make the most of space in the cabin, which generally also affects the design,” he said. “Due to the clever platform of the Civic, we had freedom to optimise the package. The end result is a car that has almost a sports-car silhouette. For me the strength of the car is the synergy of functionality, versatility and dynamic expression.
“At first glance it is clear that the Civic Tourer does not look like any other Wagons. Recently-launched cars have tended to follow a similar style. The Civic Tourer has a different balance and appeal.”
