Bloodhound SSC, a jet and rocket powered car designed to travel at 1,000 mph breaking the current land speed record by 31 per cent, will be featured at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 10-13 September at ExCeL, London.Blending the latest automotive and aircraft technology, the Bloodhound is composed partly like a racing car using carbon fibre monocoque, while the back half is built with metallic framework and panels to resemble an aircraft. Weighing over seven tonnes, the supersonic car''s engines produce more than 135,000 horsepower - six times more than the total power of a Formula 1 starting grid.As the world''s leading exhibition of the latest defence and security products, technologies and services, DSEI offers a unique opportunity for the industry and its supply chain to present the latest innovations to international markets. The show car will be featured in the tri-service area at DSEI, where visitors will be able to see the very best in UK engineering and learn first-hand about the vehicle''s record-breaking capabilities. The exclusive Bloodhound showcase will also comprise demonstrations from the project''s key partners and sponsors, including the Supacat six-wheeled ''Quiver'' support vehicle painted in the Bloodhound''s striking blue and orange. Other companies featured in this pavilion include but are not limited to: Serco, URT, SHD, Titan, Ultimate Hearing Protection and Timken. Since the project first launched in 2008, the Bloodhound Team has been gearing up to break the existing world land speed record and reach 1,000 mph, faster than the speed of sound. In addition this noteworthy project has also developed an education programme, driving forward the next generation of engineers. On Wednesday, September 11, Tony Parraman, Bloodhound Project Team''s Head of Sponsor Liaison, will deliver an informative presentation, providing an overview of the project and highlighting the importance of a flexible and responsive supply chain.“DSEI provides an opportunity for our supply chain, including companies that are already working with the MOD and those that are currently not so well established, to introduce themselves to new markets and showcase their full capability,” explained Mr Parraman. “DSEI is an ideal platform to allow our sponsors to network with key defence companies across the world.”
