TO CELEBRATE the momentous achievement by MINI in winning the gruelling and highly competitive Dakar Rally for the second consecutive year, leading automotive directory Motortrades.co.uk announced it has launched a new category for MINI specialists.

It aims to promote garages, repair shops, new, classic and second hand dealers - all of whom specialise in MINIs.

Mini Dakar RallyMINI's efforts to create cars that are versatile enough for off-road use have led to an increase in sales, tapping into a unique segment of the market for drivers looking for a fun, multi-purpose and fully functional vehicle.

With a recent survey revealing men are most attracted to women behind the wheel of a MINI, it is no surprise that demand has grown from business owners for the category, which will rank high in major search engines, including Google, Yahoo! and Bing.

Their seductive appeal, modern traditionalism and supreme handling have led to a rise in sales: a record 301,126 globally last year - a six per cent increase on 2011.

The Countryman, which won the Dakar Rally - despite being heavily modified - sold 11 per cent more models last year with 102,210 drivers keen to make their impact on the road a stylish one.

Britons snapped up 50,367 MINIs, while 66,123 Americans grabbed a slice of the British-born brand.
